Our Process

We want to be thorough so we do this right the first time.

Our Approach

Our process gathers existing programs and initiatives, stakeholder input, customer research, industry trends and user behavior into a highly engaging and interactive meeting.

User Needs First

We make user needs our focus instead of our own

Together, using a fast-paced, user-centric, and facilitated framework, we define and prioritize user needs so we can start your project off the right way.

Phase 01 of 05

Discovery

We use this phase to identify your users and your business goals before anything gets designed.

During this phase we start by holding a project kickoff where we discuss specifics and gather information necessary to identify your users and your business goals. We first give a questionnaire so that we can gain some insight into the project, the business and its customers. Once we get back the questionnaire, we review it and go over it during the project kickoff meeting.

The purpose of the kickoff meeting is to make introductions, understand the project background, understand what success looks like, agree on acceptance criteria, and discuss how to best work together effectively — a chance to level set before moving further into the project.

Afterwards we talk to customers, perform a competitive landscape and market research. Once that's complete, we create user personas based on the data gathered to gain a deeper understanding of who we're serving.

Phase 02 of 05

Brand Design

We use your user data to form a logotype, choose a color palette, typography styles, and develop your brand's voice.

To begin, we analyze the user data and competitive analysis, and review the questionnaire from the start of the project. Using this data, we collaborate with you to create a logo to represent your brand. Brand design is much more than a logo — we focus on how we make people feel when they interact with your brand.

It should bring a sense of delight, professionalism, and trust when a user looks at your logo, picks up a business card, reads a brochure, or visits your website. That's achieved through the language we use — your brand's voice — and the overall aesthetic of the style guide we design in this phase.

Phase 03 of 05

Website Design

We figure out how your website needs to flow, function, and look — before a single line of code is written.

Based on what we know about your users and your business goals, we carefully create wireframes, mockups, and a prototype for the new website. Together, we determine the sitemap and the purpose of each page. Each page should tell a story as the user scrolls, with a clear call-to-action as they approach the bottom.

It's far more cost-effective to iterate on wireframes than finished pages, so this is where we get feedback and refine quickly. We allow two revisions per page in scope, taking all feedback and revising accordingly. This phase is complete when sign-off is given for every page.

Phase 04 of 05

Development

We hand-code the site, make sure it holds up on every device, and test it thoroughly before release.

Once we have a plan in place, we hand-code the website — hand-coding, content creation, and tailored content management, not a page-builder template. We determine the best technologies for your needs, implement each page with precision, and review each page with you to confirm it matches the approved design before final sign-off.

Code is well documented and stored in a version-controlled repository so future developers can pick up where we left off, and the site is built to be easy to maintain with as little friction as possible between managing content and overall security.

Phase 05 of 05

Delivery

We deploy your site, hand off every asset, and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Once final sign-off takes place, we deploy your website and deliver logos, style guides, and every other asset promised throughout the project. If any hiccups come up at or after deployment, we fix them — this doesn't include modifying design or features after final sign-off.

We typically hold a training and hand-off meeting, deliver any remaining documentation, and wrap up the project together.
